This is a blog where I'll share my experiences and insights on what being creative is like for me. (And perhaps when I feel brave enough, even share some of my work.) I've never written a blog before so I'm sure I'll make mistakes but I guess that's what comes with "Being Creative", which is a hard and scary thing for the perfectionist side of me. Yes, I'm a paradox, at least that's how I see it because from what I've learned over the years, being creative requires you to embrace mistakes and imperfections. This has been a constant challenge for me all my life but now I'm more open to this challenge and my resistance to it has softened. (I think. I hope.) For example, even though I don't feel 100% sure of my singing voice after two years of lessons, I am planning to attend an open mic and sing a Musical Theatre piece for a whole bunch of strangers. Yikes!

To begin, my creative mind started developing at an early age when my parents limited our TV time and pushed us out the door to play outside for most of the day. My partner in crime at the time was a little girl who lived across the street, my best friend Marie. We were lucky growing up in Newfoundland where trees and forests were abundant. They provided the background to all the stories we dreamt up and played out. Here is a photo of us when we decided to publicly perform one of these stories for my family in my living room.

And voila! My first theatrical production! Little did I know then that I would actively seek out a career in performing many more stories for a lot more people than just my mom and dad. :-) And that is how my journey up to now began and a little intro to who I am. I'll keep it short and sweet and end it there. Thanks for reading!
